Privacy policy for the chat assistant
This page covers the chat assistant shown on car dealers' websites through Carostock. The dealer is the controller for their own website and customers, and Carostock (CavCode AB) handles the data on their behalf, as a processor.
An AI, not a person
The chat answers with a language model, based on the dealer's vehicles, opening hours and services. It never presents itself as a human, and a question it cannot answer is passed on to the dealer's salespeople. The language model runs within the EU.
What the chat collects
We store what you type in the chat and a session id that ties the conversation together. If you ask to be contacted, we also store your name, phone number or email address, depending on what you provide. A national ID number is removed immediately if one is typed in by mistake. We also keep statistics on how the chat is used, without the message text.
How long it is kept
Conversations are typically stored for up to 90 days and then deleted automatically. A dealer may have agreed a different period with us.
Who the data reaches
If you ask to be contacted, the details go to the dealer as your enquiry. Carostock can see the conversations to run and improve the service, but never sells or shares them further. The dealer also sees the conversations from their own website in their panel.
Carostock's own processing
Beyond what applies to the chat itself, our privacy policy describes how Carostock otherwise processes personal data.
